The Constitution of India not only grants equality to women but also empowers the State to adopt measures of positive discrimination in favour of women for neutralizing the cumulative socio economic, education and political disadvantages faced by them. Even then, the crime and deprivation of rights against women and Senior Citizens are on the rise. There are specific legislations for the protection of women’s rights in various spheres. The Prevention of Domestic Violence Act, The Maintenance of Parents and Senior Citizens Act etc are one the legislations in this decade. Proper applications of laws in right time may protect the weaker sections from becoming the victims in the hands of mighty ones.
